Keurig K-Mini Plus

The Keurig K-Mini Plus is a great little brewer that’s ideal for small kitchens with limited counter space. In our tests, it receives strong scores for temperature and size consistency between cups, as well as how easy it is to use and clean. It features a removable reservoir, a height-adjustable drip tray, and auto-shutoff.

Calphalon 14 Cup Programmable

This machine is a great all-purpose coffee maker that brews well and comes with just enough features to make it extra convenient. It’s programmable, with a small-batch setting, brew-strength control, and auto-shutoff, and it has an indicator to let you know when it’s time to clean it out. It scored impressively well in our tests for both brewing and ease of use.

Braun MultiServe KF9150BK

The Braun MultiServe KF9150BK, which is now $10 more than it was yesterday but still a good price, is Braun’s take on all-in-one brewers like the Ninja Coffee Bar, which have become a popular option for replicating coffeehouse-style drinks at home. It offers seven different brew sizes, four different brew modes (including an over-ice mode), a glass carafe, a removable water reservoir, a water filter, auto-shutoff, and a cleaning indicator. It had decent brew performance in our tests, and its carafe is very easy to hold and pour.

Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System CP307

This Ninja coffee maker is an all-around strong performer, scoring well in our tests for brewing, carafe handling, and ease of use. It features auto-shutoff, a removable reservoir, and an indicator to signal when it needs to be cleaned. Because this machine is capable of brewing both hot and cold coffee, coffee drinkers can make use of it all year long. (It makes tea, too.)

Spice by Tia Mowry Savory Saffron 96240.02RR

Tia Mowry’s Dutch oven heats up quickly and bakes bread with a crispy crust, earning top marks on both tests. It’s almost as good at simmering sauces and heats evenly. Best of all, it’s a cinch to clean. It weighs almost 14 pounds and has a cooking surface that’s 8 inches in diameter.

Ayesha Curry Covered Dutch Oven

The 6-quart Ayesha Curry Dutch oven, a great option for any cooktop, including induction, is among the easiest to clean of all the models we’ve tested, garnering an excellent score on that test. But weighing in at 15 pounds, this Dutch oven is the heaviest of the 10 in our ratings, and the cooking surface measures only 7 inches in diameter. It heats up quickly but is only so-so at simmering sauce, so you’ll have to be vigilant when you use it for that purpose. That said, it produced a nice loaf of bread in our baking test.

Le Creuset Signature Dutch Oven

The 5.5-quart Le Creuset Signature has been at the top of our ratings for years. And while some newcomers perform just as well, the Le Creuset name is still highly sought after. The speed of heating is top notch, and this Dutch oven is a cinch to clean. But if you bake a lot of bread, there are better choices. It weighs 12 pounds, less than most, and has an 8-inch cooking diameter. The loop handles are nice and wide.

Ayesha Curry Hard-Anodized

Cookware that heats up fast and cooks food evenly is a must-have in the kitchen. And this 10-piece hard-anodized set from Ayesha Curry does just that, while also offering all the benefits of being nonstick—meaning cooked foods can be released quite easily from its pans, as witnessed in our lab tests. The handles remain impressively cool as you’re cooking, but testers noted that they’re susceptible to bending. Still, this cookware set as a whole is expected to last for a long time (and it’s backed by a lifetime warranty if it doesn’t). Standout pieces in this 500-degree oven-safe set include an 8.5 and 10-inch skillet, a 1.5 and 2-quart covered saucepan, a 5.5 quart covered Dutch oven, and a wooden spoon.

PowerXL Maxx 4 Quart, Special Edition 2021 HF-509DT

This PowerXL small-capacity model (similar to the PowerXL Classic Fryer on the manufacturer’s site, but sold on Amazon and at Walmart) earned solid scores in Consumer Reports’ tests because it’s relatively quiet and easy to clean. At home, it was terrific at reheating food, cooking meals, and turning out crispy fries. One major drawback: its controls. They aren’t intuitive and take some getting used to. This Prime Day, both the 4-quart and 7-quart models are on sale.

Secura Electric Kettle SWK-1701DB

The 7-cup Secura Original electric kettle is plastic on the outside, stainless steel on the inside, and almost 11 inches high. It’s the only model to snag a top rating in our time-to-cool tests. It keeps 4 cups of boiled water warm for 75 minutes, longer than any of the other kettles. The warranty lasts two years.

Cuisinart Hurricane Pro 3.5 Peak HP CBT-2000

As its Category 5 name suggests, this gunmetal-finish Cuisinart Hurricane Pro blender is noisy, but its commercial-grade horsepower takes blending to the next level. In fact, it’s Cuisinart’s most powerful blender. With variable speed control from 1,500 rpm to a turbo-boosting 30,000 maximum blending power, it also features automatic load sensing, adjustable presets, a digital display, and a memory-setting function. It comes with an extra-large 64-ounce Tritan plastic jar that’s free of bisphenol A (BPA) and has a soft-grip handle.

Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max

The portable Blue Pure 211i Max features an indicator light to alert you when you need to change or clean the filter. It also has a dirt sensor and four speeds. On its higher setting, it’s terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low and you’ll have more quiet while still experiencing top-notch results. This model is designed for use in a large space of 350 to 650 square feet and costs about $109 a year to maintain—just more than half that of the Pure 211+. It also weighs just 17 pounds, making it easy to move around. CR members found Blueair air purifiers highly reliable and were quite satisfied with their purchase.

Blueair Blue Pure 411i Max

The kid sister to the 211i Max, Blueair’s 411i Max has a similar design, but for a smaller space—CR recommends a medium room or smaller. The portable air purifier is primarily filter-based and has three speeds, a filter indicator, and a dirt sensor. On its higher speed it delivers pretty average results, and as with many air purifiers, it’s less effective on its lower speed. The model is easy to use and has a relatively low annual operating cost. Blueair came out on top for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction during CR’s first member survey.

Blueair Protect 7470i

The HEPA filter on the Blueair 7470i proves to be excellent at capturing and removing dust and smoke on higher levels, and it’s almost as good on lower levels. Holding a conversation or getting work done while the unit is at its lower speed should be fairly easy but gets a bit more difficult when cranked up to its highest speed. CR members find Blueair to be one of the best air purifier brands.

Levoit PlasmaPro 600S

The Levoit PlasmaPro 600S is a solid performer all-around, clearing the air of dust, pollen, and smoke at both higher and lower settings with great results. It’s noisy while running at a high speed, but it’s relatively quiet at low speeds. That makes it an ideal choice for an office or bedroom. And you don’t have to worry about keeping track of filter changes: An indicator light alerts you when it’s time. This machine also has a dust sensor and programmable timer.

Levoit LV-H132

The Levoit LV-H132 Air Purifier isn’t a top performer. It earns subpar ratings for dust, pollen, and smoke removal on both high and low speeds, which is why CR testers suggest it’s best for smaller rooms (we’re talking office-sized spaces). But it’s pretty quiet, which is great when you have a day of Zoom calls, it has a fairly inexpensive annual operating cost, it’s easy to use, and it can fit neatly on your desk without taking up too much space.

Samsung Bluesky AX26BG3100GG/AA

For what CR considers a large room air purifier, the Samsung Bluesky is pretty compact. It stands at a little under 20 inches high, about 14 inches wide, and less than a foot deep. Those looking to purify their bedroom will appreciate the sleep mode, which minimizes light and noise, and the activated carbon filter, which can help keep kitchen smells from infiltrating your resting space. In CR’s tests, this 4-speed model does a very good job at removing dust, pollen, and smoke from the air at high speed, and an average job at clearing the air at lower speeds. Samsung recommends the Bluesky for rooms up to 260 feet, but its impressive test results suggest it can be used in a space that’s larger.

Samsung BESPOKE Cube

Samsung’s Bespoke Cube garners an impressive rating for its performance at its higher speed but is pretty subpar at its lower speed. Because it’s fairly quiet when operating at lower speeds, it’s best to put it in a smaller room than it’s intended. This model has a filter indicator light that tells you when the main HEPA filter is in need of changing, typically every 12 to 24 months depending on use. This alert can also be found on the air purifier’s compatible app, which lets you monitor particulate counts as well as control the unit, even when you’re outside of the home.

Airdog X5

Loud but effective at removing dust, pollen, and smoke when running at its highest speed, this Airdog portable air purifier misses the mark in a key area. Its air purifying performance at low speed is only fair, CR’s tests found. And at about 25 pounds, it’s also relatively heavy.

Midea MAD50C1ZWS

The Midea MAD50C1ZWS, which is $30 cheaper than it was for the first day of Prime Day, checks all the key boxes for keeping your basement and other damp areas dry. Water removal: excellent. Humidistat accuracy: also stellar. Noise and energy efficiency: near the top. Indeed, this large-capacity dehumidifier’s only drawback is a relatively small 15-pint tank, contributing to its mediocre score for convenience. To remove the 50 pints it’s designed to handle daily, you’ll have to empty it several times a day or attach a hose to divert the water to a drain. As a brand, Midea’s dehumidifiers receive a very favorable rating for reliability and a midlevel rating for owner satisfaction in CR’s member surveys.

Midea MAD20C1ZWS

The Midea MAD20C1ZWS small-capacity dehumidifier is a capable performer, especially in the key area of water removal. It also earns standout ratings for humidistat accuracy. It’s quiet, though not quite as quiet as our top-scoring small-capacity dehumidifier, the Midea MAD20S1QWT. It’s also not as energy-efficient, and has a small, 7-gallon tank that you’ll have to empty far more frequently than the higher-rated model. But with this deal, you’ll get a bit of a discount on a unit that, like all Midea dehumidifiers, earns top scores for predicted reliability. Owner satisfaction is in the midrange.

Frigidaire FFAD2233W1

The Frigidaire FFAD2233W1 small-capacity dehumidifier rocks our ratings in water removal, energy efficiency, and convenience, earning top scores in each. It’s also quiet. But it lacks some convenience features, such as a pump and drain hose, and an alert for when the filter needs cleaning. Its humidistat’s performance also is subpar, though you can buy a low-priced hygrometer to do the job (available for $10 or less). Frigidaire dehumidifiers earn middle-of-the-road ratings for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.

Haier QDHR35LZ

The Haier QDHR35LZ medium-capacity dehumidifier is designed to remove 35 gallons of water a day, so it’s best suited for an area of 600 to 800 square feet that’s slightly damp or has a musty smell. Its water removal performance is very good, and it’s fairly quiet. It also earns a top score for energy efficiency. It’s not the most convenient of models, though: Its 10-gallon tank is fairly small relative to its claim to pull 35 pints of water from the air per day. Haier dehumidifiers earn middling ratings for predicted reliability and are unimpressive for owner satisfaction.

PureGuardian H3200WAR

The ultrasonic, cool-mist PureGuardian H3200WAR is among the top-rated humidifiers for medium-sized rooms (300 to 400 square feet), hitting high notes for nearly every performance category we rate: output, convenience, noise, efficiency, and operation using hard water. But it loses points because it doesn’t have a humidistat to measure relative humidity. Online, though, you can buy a hygrometer that does that for less than $10.

Frida 3-in-1 with Diffuser and Nightlight

The Frida 3-in-1 with Diffuser and Nightlight cool-mist humidifier is quiet, efficient, and works well even when filled with hard water. It’s also fairly convenient; for instance, it shuts off automatically when empty, and glows in the dark. You also can add essential oils for the unit to diffuse. But we found it didn’t live up to the manufacturer’s claim that it could humidify areas up to 320 square feet—say a room of about 18x18 feet. So it’s better off being used in a smaller area.

Char-Griller Gravity 980 [Item# 2582832] (Lowe's)

A top performer by almost all measures, the Char-Griller Gravity 980 has an almost perfect score in our testing. It achieved a top score for cleaning, indirect cooking, and evenness, and performed almost as well for convenience. The Gravity 980 has a few high-end features, like a hopper feeder for adding more coal and a WiFi-enabled digital temperature controller. With a measured cooking area of 620 square inches, it’s also the largest charcoal grill we’ve tested.

Weber Summit E-670

If you’re looking for a premium grill, the Weber Summit E-670 has every bell and whistle, along with top-notch performance—but it’s pricey. It has six main burners, a side burner, a built-in fuel gauge, a smoker box, and even a rotisserie. It heats quickly and evenly, and cooks at an exceptionally broad range of temperatures. In fact, with a rating of excellent in our temperature range test, it’s well suited for grilling just about anything you can dream up.

Nexgrill 820-0033

For the money, it’s tough to beat the Nexgrill 820-0033. It has two burners and a rotary igniter, as well as two fold-down legs. Performance is strong—it earns a top rating for both preheating and heating evenness. The lone drawback is its indirect cooking performance. In that test, it receives a lower rating, making it better suited for burgers and hot dogs than, say, ribs.

Zwilling 8-Piece Stainless Steel Steak Knife Set

If you’re shopping for steak knives as a wedding or housewarming gift, look no further. This Zwilling set has a polished finish and a wooden case, too. The metal handles make them quite a bit heavier than you’d expect, but that weight is appreciated because it helps make cutting easier without distorting the balance of the knife. While these knives are beautiful, they’re not the sharpest of the bunch. The tiny serrations on the blade make them best suited for more tender cuts, such as filet mignon, as opposed to tougher foods, like a lamb shoulder chop. On a table, they blend right in with other cutlery, and of all the options we tried, they looked the least like a steak knife and more like a finely sharpened butter knife.

AeroGarden Harvest 360

The circular AeroGarden Harvest 360, among the smallest AeroGarden models, has six ports for seed pods. The starter kit includes one of four seed-pod kits—gourmet herbs, heirloom salad greens, red heirloom cherry tomatoes, and a grow-anything kit. Of the four gardens CR tried, the AeroGarden was the most fun to use, in part because most of the lettuces sprouted in a week and grew fast. But the unit was also relatively easy to operate. Total setup took just 8 minutes.

Home Hero Steak Knives Set of 8

The Home Hero steak knives seem to work on the same principle as the jaw of a coyote. They’ll definitely separate meat from a bone, but it ain’t gonna be pretty. The knives have jagged, triangular teeth, almost like those on a handsaw. The result is a knife that can certainly cut, but it takes a bit of effort. They can easily tear up food, but they struggle to produce delicate slices. If that’s okay with you, this wallet-friendly choice might be the right one for you.

Mellanni Brushed Microfiber 1800

Brushed microfiber isn’t as breathable as cotton, but for those who don’t find synthetic fibers to be a hang-up, this Mellanni sheet set is a top-notch pick. It offers a softer feel than most cotton options and is pretty resistant to wrinkling, and you can expect a great fit even after a year of laundering. You can also expect to have this set in rotation for a while because it does pretty well in our strength test. The one area where these bedsheets miss the mark a bit is in our fit test. Though the packaging claims “deep pockets,” this set is best suited for mattresses with a depth of 10 inches or less.

Coop Home Goods The Original

The Coop Home Goods Premium Adjustable Loft Pillow is made of shredded memory foam and excels in our tests for support, no matter your size or sleep position. The Coop also keeps its shape well, showing little to no change in height or fluffiness in our resilience tests. Each pillow comes with extra foam, so you can adjust the filling to your liking. The only area where this pillow falls a bit short is in breathability; it sleeps slightly warm.

Beckham Luxury Linens Hotel Collection (2pk)

The Beckham Luxury Linens Hotel Collection Pillow has a cover that’s 100 percent cotton and a gel-fiber filling that’s 100 percent. The pillow aced our test for breathability, so it should help keep you from feeling hot. It also scored top marks for resiliency, so it should maintain its shape over time.

Clip the on-page coupon to get the savings.

Weekender Gel Memory Foam

Made of cooling gel memory foam, this Weekender pillow provides satisfying support for side sleepers and adequate support for those who sleep on their back. With prolonged use, expect this pillow to keep its shape and retain its support and firmness. In our tests, its resiliency was top-notch, as was its breathability.

HIMOON Bed Pillows

This set of two microfiber pillows offers very good support for side sleepers but earns just middling scores in our back support tests. And its resilience is just so-so. But if you sleep on the warmer side, you can find comfort in knowing that this pillow has maximum breathability.

Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Breeze Dual Cooling

Made of two layers of gel memory foam, Tempur-Pedic’s Tempur-Cloud Breeze Dual Cooling Pillow is the most expensive pillow we’ve tested. It’s top-notch when it comes to side-sleeper support but only middling for back-sleeper support. In our resilience test, this pillow successfully maintained its shape. Despite having “breeze” in its name, the pillow doesn’t allow for much airflow, so you may get sweaty sleeping on it. Only the cover is machine washable.

Brooklyn Bedding Talalay Latex High Loft

The Talalay latex pillows from Brooklyn Bedding may be a good choice for side sleepers because the pillows get above-average scores for that test. They’re a bit subpar for back sleepers, though. But these pillows get top marks for breathability, so they should help with temperature control while you sleep.

This pillow is now $5 cheaper than it’s been in months.

Luna Weighted Blanket

The cover of the Luna weighted blanket is cotton, and it’s filled with glass beads. It doesn’t come with a duvet cover, but if you’d like to buy one separately, several colors and materials are available. Luna says you can wash the blanket in cold water on the gentle setting and hang it to dry or tumble-dry on low heat. A staffer who tried the Luna weighted blanket found it to be a solid blanket for the budget-friendly price, but said the materials didn’t look and feel as smooth and sleek as the pricier options we tried.

Linenspa 2" Memory Foam Mattress Topper

This 2-inch memory-foam topper provides great support while still allowing you to sink into it. And at 8 pounds, it’s not overly heavy to maneuver, and it’s flippable. But this deal doesn’t come with a cover (though you can add one on yourself), and a lack of corner straps means the topper might shift around. You can return Linenspa products for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.

Casper Comfy Mattress Topper

Our lab tests found that this Casper topper doesn’t allow users to sink in as deeply as they would with others. The dual-layer cushion combines a layer of softer foam over a firmer base layer of foam. At 20 pounds and 3 inches thick, this mattress topper isn’t easy to move around, but its machine-washable zip-off cover (made of polyester, cotton, rayon, and spandex) is easy to clean. But this topper can’t be flipped. Casper offers a 30-night risk-free trial, and its toppers are backed by a five-year limited warranty.

Tuft & Needle Mattress Topper

This Tuft & Needle mattress topper earned excellent scores for both support and convenience in our lab tests. The flippable topper consists of a 2-inch-thick slice of adaptive foam wrapped in a removable polyester cover. This model doesn’t have corner straps, though, so it might shift a bit on your mattress. The Tuft & Needle topper comes with a three-year limited warranty, and there’s a 30-day return policy.

Casper Wave Hybrid

The higher-end Casper Wave Hybrid is 2 inches thicker than the Casper Original Hybrid and offers four layers of foam—two memory and two standard polyurethane, compared with the Original Hybrid’s one layer of each. Petite and average back sleepers will find terrific support with this plush model, and side sleepers of all sleep positions will experience adequate support. But large/tall back sleepers will find more support with the Original Hybrid, which is also on sale for Prime Day.

Casper Original

Casper’s 11-inch flagship foam mattress earns the highest score in our back-sleeper support tests for every body size. And it’s only slightly less supportive for side sleepers. The Casper Original does a solid job in stabilization, too, so partners should have an easy time shifting positions without waking each other up. Made with synthetic foams, this mattress receives a score of 5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, which means it has a medium feel. Casper’s foam mattresses earn impressive ratings for comfort and owner satisfaction among CR members.

Casper Original Hybrid

The Casper Original Hybrid offers two thick layers of foam—one polyurethane, one memory—over pocketed coils. It delivers top-notch support for side sleepers and great support for large/tall back sleepers, but petite and average back sleepers would get better reinforcement from the Casper Wave Hybrid, which is slightly thicker and slightly softer. CR members we surveyed said that Casper mattresses are a great value, and more than half said they would buy a Casper mattress again.

Casper Nova Hybrid

Combining coil and foam layers, this mattress-in-a-box provides very good support to all sizes and types of sleepers, despite being rather plush (it rates a 3 on our firmness scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the firmest). It also isolates motion well, and its durability is first-rate based on eight years of simulated use. In CR owner surveys, Casper innerspring mattresses garner high praise for comfort and satisfaction.

Helix Sleep Midnight Luxe

Finding the right mattress for how you sleep can be tricky, but in our tests, the Midnight Luxe is a great choice for people of all sizes, whether they sleep on their back or side. One thing to note about this mattress is that it’s 14 inches high, so you’ll need deep-pocket sheets. When you use the code JULY25, you’ll save 25 percent sitewide, including for this mattress, and you’ll get two free pillows.

Serta Sheer Slumber EZ Tote

If you’re looking for an affordable firm mattress, the Serta Sheer Slumber mattress fits the bill. It lands a 9 out of 10 on our firmness scale, and, with a price of under $500, it’s one of the more affordable foam mattresses in our ratings. Overall, this mattress-in-a-box offers impressive support for most sleepers, with the exception of large side sleepers, who can expect only average support. Serta foam mattresses receive so-so scores for comfort and predicted reliability, according to CR member surveys.

Sleep Innovations Shiloh 14-inch Memory Foam

Large and tall sleepers can find better support elsewhere, but all others are well served by this moderately priced foam mattress. For petite and average-sized back and side sleepers, the support is very good. Durability is top-notch, with little change in performance over eight years of simulated use, and owners give the brand’s foam mattresses high marks in CR surveys. Stability is merely average, so sleepers may feel a partner’s movements on the other side of the mattress.

Tuft & Needle Nod Hybrid MAT-NODH-01-Q

This mattress-in-a-box has few weak spots. The innersprings topped with foam deliver very good support to all types and sizes of sleepers, from petites to large and tall. The durability is top-notch, with little in the way of sagging, softening, or damage in eight years of simulated use.

Nolah Natural 11"

If you’re looking for a softer mattress that offers support, the Nolah Natural mattress may just fit the bill. It gets above-average ratings for people of all sleep styles and sizes, and it shines when it comes to durability. The only place it falls short is in stabilization, where it gets middling scores in CR’s tests. That means if your partner shifts on one side of the mattress, you might feel it on the other side.

GhostBed The GhostBed

This online-only mattress-in-a-box retailer has a 30 percent discount on its mattresses, including its namesake model, the GhostBed, which is worth a look. The deal also includes two free pillows, a common extra when buying directly from a mattress brand.

The queen-size GhostBed does well in our tests for supporting petite people who sleep on their back, and it earns top marks for durability, which means it showed little change in performance after eight to 10 years of simulated use in our tests.

Tuft & Needle T&N Original Mattress

Mattress-in-a-box brand Tuft & Needle now features several more-expensive options in its line, but its original, no-frills 10-inch foam mattress remains staunchly on CR’s Recommended list. In our lab tests, this bed showed consistently great support for petite back sleepers, as well as side sleepers of all sizes. (Average-sized and larger back sleepers would do better elsewhere.) Like most foam mattresses, this model isolates motion well, so partners are less likely to disturb each other as they shift positions. But because there’s no memory foam, you won’t experience that quicksand feel. This is a medium-firm mattress, scoring a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale (10 being the most firm). Tuft & Needle foam mattresses receive solid ratings for owner satisfaction, according to data from our member surveys.

Zinus Green Tea Pressure Relief

While it doesn’t make the cut for our best foam mattresses under $500, the Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattress stands out as a decent choice for petite and average-sized back sleepers. But side sleepers of any size, along with large back sleepers, can expect no better than average spine support. This mattress also tends to retain body heat.

Sunnyglade Rectangular Offset Hanging Umbrella

Testers found the Sunnyglade Rectangular Offset Hanging Umbrella easy to adjust, both in tilt and rotation. The patio umbrella can be rotated 360 degrees by stepping on a pedal and twisting the pole. And the tilting mechanism allows for four levels of adjustment, all of which hold steady. The square canopy, which is removable, is vented and made of coated polyester. It comes in five colors: tan, bright blue, red, dark blue, and gray. One drawback: We couldn’t find any warranty information, and the company doesn’t have a website, just a phone number in China. While this model is well-priced and performed well in our tests, there’s a risk that you won’t get a replacement if the product breaks after the store’s allowed return period.

Hampton Bay 11' Aluminum Cantilever Solar LED Umbrella

If you have a round patio table, the octagonal Hampton Bay 11’ Aluminum Cantilever Solar LED Umbrella is your best bet. The underside of the canopy is lined with solar-powered LED lights for nighttime dinner parties. The crank-lift and tilt systems are easy to use, allowing for quick tilts and rotations. Testers found that the umbrella held steady at all angles.

Black+Decker BESTE620

The Black+Decker BESTE620 has only a single cutting line; it’s meant for dealing with grass along walkways rather than thick brush. Even so, it earns a top rating for trimming and is easy to use, even if it doesn’t clear as quickly as some of the more powerful electric models.

Sun Joe SPX3000-MAX

The electric-powered Sun Joe SPX3000-MAX is very good at cleaning a range of surfaces, even though its pressure and flow are so-so. Its hose is shorter than most, but the model is easy to move around. In our member surveys, Sun Joe pressure washers earn top-level ratings for their predicted reliability and middling scores for owner satisfaction.

This Prime Day, the model drops to its lowest price we’ve seen this year, with an almost 50 percent markdown from its original price.

Ring Video Doorbell 3

The Ring Video Doorbell 3 is among the best smart doorbells you can buy, offering impeccable video quality and strong data security in our lab tests. Its features include a removable rechargeable battery, voice control via Amazon Alexa, monitoring zones, alert schedules, and privacy zones that let you black out areas you don’t want to film (such as a neighbor’s house).

Arlo Essential Video Doorbell (Wire-free) AVD2001-100NAS

Want a battery-powered video doorbell that isn’t made by Amazon or Google? This Arlo model is a great alternative. In our tests, it receives high scores for its video quality and data security, but we found it to be a bit slow when it comes to response time for alerts and the loading of live video feeds. Its features include a rechargeable battery, optional wiring contacts to wire it to a home’s doorbell circuit, high dynamic range for clear video in brightly lit or dark spots, and voice and app control via Amazon Alexa, Google Home/Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as person, package, vehicle, and animal detection) require an Arlo Secure subscription.

Kwikset Premis 919TRL 15 SMT

The Kwikset Premis smart lock is best for iPhone users because it works with Apple’s HomeKit smart home ecosystem and Siri digital assistant. In our tests, the Premis is very resistant to kick-ins and lock picking, but it’s susceptible to attack from a cordless drill. Still, this lock comes with some very helpful features, including an access log to keep track of who comes and goes, a tamper alarm, an auto-lock feature, and the ability to create and share PINs with others. Just note that because this lock uses Bluetooth and HomeKit, you’ll also need an Apple TV, Apple HomePod, or Apple iPad (that’s constantly plugged into an outlet) in your home to control the lock remotely.

Dyson Big Ball Multi Floor

In our tests, the Dyson Big Ball Multi Floor performs as well as its brandmate the Ball Multi Floor but doesn’t feature an on/off button for the brush roll, which can prevent you from scattering dirt about as you work on bare floors. It’s below average on cleaning carpet but earns a top rating for bare floors. It’s fairly quiet and earns a respectable rating for removing pet hair.

Samsung Jet 90 Complete VS20R9046T3/AA

The cordless Samsung Jet 90 Complete vac scores highly in all of CR’s tests and is more powerful than some of its competitors. Our testers like the sleek and solid stand and the digital display that allows you to check the power level, the battery life, and any maintenance issues.

Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly 31150

Although “pet” is part of this model’s name, the Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly 31150 earned a top score for cleaning bare floors, as opposed to sucking up pet hair from a medium-pile carpet (though it performed impressively on the latter as well). In addition to working reliably on carpet, it also has clean emissions, meaning everything it sucks up stays in the vacuum. It’s a bit on the noisy side compared with some of the other models. It’s also heavier than most, weighing 21 pounds. It has a fairly long 35-foot cord and an indicator that lets you know when the bag should be replaced. Kenmore earned average scores for both predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.

Frigidaire Gallery GCRI3058AF

If you can live with a back panel and rear-mounted controls, this entry-level Frigidaire induction range is essentially the freestanding version of a sleeker slide-in. It offers speedy heating and strong performance all-around. It’s relatively light on features—it lacks a warming element and a high-temperature self-clean cycle, for instance—but at this price it’s still a steal, a full $100 less than the slide-in with identical performance.

Whirlpool WDTA50SAKZ

This Whirlpool dishwasher is a strong performer, with a third rack and an upscale look for the price, including integrated controls. Whirlpool also earns a strong rating for predicted reliability and a middling score for owner satisfaction, based on data from our reader survey. It’s similar to lower-end models from the KitchenAid brand, which is also owned by Whirlpool.
